Apply for UNIZIK Professional Diploma in Journalism (PDJ) Programme.
Applications are invited from qualified candidates, particularly Practising Journalists without any qualification in Journalism or Mass Communication for admission into the Professional Diploma in Journalism (PDJ) Programme offered by the Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The programme recently introduced by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in collaboration with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra Council is aimed at equipping journalists, especially those who have practiced the profession or several years without any formal qualification in Journalism or Mass Communication, with the theoretical knowledge to remedy their deficiency.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences UNIZIK, Prof Stella Okunna, said more than 70 journalists applied for the programme with 38 applicants been offered admission in the first batch of the 18 months programme in 2017.
Also speaking, the Anambra state Chairman of NUJ, Mr Emmanuel Ifesinachi, urged journalists without qualification to take advantage of the programme. He went ahead to thank the UNIZIK Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, for facilitating and reducing the cost of the programme to N55, 000 per session.
At least five O’Level credits obtained in not more than two sittings, including English Language.
Duration of Programme
The (PDJ) is a part time programme that is expected to run for a minimum of three semesters of 18 calendar months.
Nature of Programme
The PDJ is a part-time programme in which practicing Journalists will attend lectures two to three days in a week between 2.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. to give them the freedom to attend to their daily professional assignments in the morning hours.
