Education Minister Commissions Projects In Unizik

Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah has during the last convocation event commissioned projects in the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK). Speaking before the commissioning, Prof. Anwukah who was in the University on behalf of Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari, challenged universities in Nigeria to be the vanguard in promoting research and providing social facilities in the community where they are located. He emphasized the need for acquisition of certified education training by primary, post primary and tertiary teachers, so as to sustain their relevance in the education sector.

Speaking on improving productivity in the University, the Minister urged the University Governing Council to think of means of attracting the private sector to partner with the University. The commissioned projects include: the incubation centre for Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial studies, classrooms for Diploma and degree students of the centre, ongoing Girls/Boys Hostels at the University Awka campus, ongoing students hostel at Agulu campus, and the completed Faculty of Arts building.

The minister also applauded the university for its great developmental strides and remarkable achievements. According to him, the remarkable achievements must have come through hardwork, peace and tranquility in the University, as those are part of the pre-requisite for growth in all spheres of life. Prof. Anwukah called on Nigerians to join in the process of change and fight against corruption.
